A Simple Method for Derivatizing the Surface of Silica Gel with Aldehyde Groups by Employing a New Alkoxy Aldehyde Silane

29 May 2012

This note presents an evaluation of the BIO-CONEXT® method for covalent attachment of bio-molecules. Triethylalkoxy aldehyde silanes were reacted with silica gel and the coating values were determined by % organic loading. To demonstrate that the surface was active, protein was covalently attached to the devitalized silica gel in a column format and the coating value was evaluated.
