A Novel Microliver Production Technology for High-Throughput Livertox Screening Systems

10 Feb 2015

Primary hepatocytes are commonly used to study drug metabolism, enzyme induction and compound hepatoxicity. To mimic a more natural environment, InSphero developed a new scaffold-free, organotypic production technology for 3-dimensional hepatic microtissues. This study demonstrates the validity and suitability of the GravityPlus hanging drop platform for liver microtissue culture, offering a highly functional and reliable in vitro toxicology testing system which can be easily implemented into standard lab automation processes.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins.
