3D Spheroids for Cardiovascular Toxicity Testing in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell–Derived Cardiomyocytes
28 Mar 2017When developing cardiovascular drugs, it is important to test lead compounds against ion channel targets in the early stages of drug development to prevent failure at a later stage. This article proposes using a multiple-spheroids assay to test cardio toxicity on pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes. Carrying out the assay in an ElplasiaTM plate (SQ 200 200 NA 96) enables multiple data points to be obtained for each well, therefore the average of BPM and the frequency of occurring Early–After-Depolarization (EAD) can be calculated from a single well.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins.
