Functional groups, such as octyl (C8) and octadecyl (C18), can be bonded to the silica surface to provide non polar interactions. Each of these sorbents exhibits unique properties of retention and selectivity for a particular analyte. The choice of which sorbent is best for a particular method will be influenced by the percent recovery of analyte from the sample matrix and the cleanliness of the resulting chromatography.

This mixed phase chemistry, in which two primary modes of attraction are present, allows for a more efficient and selective extraction compared to traditional reversed phase techniques. Neutral and ionized analytes can be simultaneously extracted from a complex mixture and eluted as separate fractions. A mixed phase sorbent offers the following advantages: Eluting acidic and neutral analytes separately from basic analyt…

SDB-XC is a poly(styrenedivinylbenzene) copolymer used as a reversed phase sorbent for solid phase extraction. SDB-XC is not bonded to silica but is a 100% copolymeric particle that is spherical, porous and cross-linked. It does not exhibit the secondary cationic (silanol) interactions and pH limitations common to bonded silica sorbents, so it offers more predictable and reproducible reversed phase interaction.
The Empore™ High Performance Extraction Disk Plate differs in design from plates offered by other manufacturers and requires a specific vacuum manifold. Manifolds supplied by different plate manufacturers are specific to the design of their plates and cannot generally be used with plates from other manufacturers. In some cases, the use of spacers to raise/lower the height of a collection device inside the manifold may overco…
Replacement gaskets are available with the vacuum manifold assembly. The gasket can become worn over time and the seal between the plate and the manifold will be affected. This may result in poor vacuum pressure and negatively effect flow rates. The gasket should be checked regularly and replaced when it becomes worn.
Empore Filter Aid 400 has been shown to improve flow rates and recoveries for separation and filtration of water samples containing suspended solids. When placed on top of the Empore™ Extraction Disk at a depth of about 1 cm, Empore™ Filter Aid 400 acts as depth filter to inhibit the migration of suspended solids to the surface of the disk. This reduces extraction time and improves rates and recovery of analytes.
Spark has introduced the second edition of HySphere™ C8 End-Capped cartridges. We have selected a new perfect Spherical sorbent material with a narrow particle size distribution. This will create less back pressure during operation and allows you to run higher flow rates compared to our current HySphere™ C8 (EC). The new cartridge has the same excellent characteristics such as high extraction capacity and selectivity
DisQuE Dispersive Sample Preparation is a well proven, high throughput sample preparation method for a wide array of pesticides in produce. The kit contains conveniently packaged vials with pre-measured sorbents and buffers used to provide extraction and clean-up for up to 100 samples. Each 50 mL DisQuE Extraction tube contains 6 grams of magnesium sulphate and 1.5 grams of sodium acetate. Each 2 mL DisQuE Clean-Up tube cont…
Symbiosis™ Pharma is Spark Holland's unique solution for integrated online SPE-LC-MS automation (XLC-MS). The heart of the matter in XLC-MS, is where the autosampler injects at a controlled temperature, raw bio-fluids directly on a fresh disposable SPE cartridge. The small particle sorbent assures a clean extract, a very high sensitivity and reliable results. Online elution to the LC-MS cuts the number of sample prep steps in…
MEPS (patent pending) performs the same function as SPE, namely the purification or speciation of samples, but with some significant differences: MEPS works with much smaller samples (as small as 10µL) than full scale SPE MEPS can be fully automated – the sample processing, extraction and injection steps are performed on-line using the same syringe MEPS is applicable to GC and LC Significantly reduces the volume of solvents an…
SCP Science DigiSEP Blue SPE Cartridges A general purpose, single use, cation removal cartridge. DigiSEP Blue from SCP Science is a highly selective exchange cartridge is ideal for retaining transition metals in samples that contain high concentrations of potassium and sodium as in sea water. DigiSEP Blue has an aminodiacetate group that acts as a chelating agent to a variety of metallic ations in solution providing a mean t…
High recovery sample preparation for drug analysis and screening: LiChrolut® TSC is a selective and efficient solid phase extraction sorbent designed for clean-up of pharmaceutical products and drugs obtained from blood, plasma and urine. LiChrolut® TSC belongs to the family of the so-called “mixed-mode phases”. The combination of a reversed-phase and a cation exchange mechanism gives rise to retention of the analyte on the st…
For reproducible sample preparation: LiChrolut® CN and NH2 are medium polar phases for solid phase extraction, which produces excellent reproducibility of sample preparation. This results a combination of high chemical stability and guaranteed capacity. LiChrolut® CN and NH2 are suitable for both polar and non-polar extractions. These medium polar phases have, in addition to a short-chained propyl-spacer, a polar functional gr…
