Mercedes Scientific was started as Mercedes Medical in 1991 in New Hyde Park, Long Island by Noelle Haft and Hank Traynor. Noelle was a seasoned laboratory distribution supply executive and Hank, a Lab Director, and together they had the right mix of industry and scientific knowledge to start a successful new venture. They called it Mercedes Medical due to Hank’s love of all things Mercedes Benz. Noelle likes to think if they had known the business would have grown and succeeded for almost 30 years they might have put a little more time into that naming decision! But alas the name stuck, mostly that is. In 2019, the decision was made to change the name to Mercedes Scientific to more closely reflect the business model Mercedes was focusing on now and into the future: serving the laboratory, research and scientific communities.
