OUR FOCUS ON DEPTH FILTRATION We are focused in a niche in the global filtration market. Depth filtration of valuable liquids by means of depth filter systems is our world. In our specialized field, we are proud to be the leading company worldwide. MICROFILTRATION FILTROX is focused in depth filtration, that means on the removal of solid particles in the size of 0.1 to 10 microns, generally referred to as microfiltration. Typical microparticles are bacteria, yeast cells, cell fragments, or proteins. These particles are not visible for the human eye, but they make the liquid turbid so that one cannot see through. Through microfiltration, the liquid becomes clear. HIGH VALUE The liquids we filter typically have a relatively high value and are very sensitive to hygienic requirements. A lot of them end up in the human body in some sort. Therefore, our customers in the pharma, biotech, cosmetics or food&beverage industries manufacture according to very high quality standards. LIQUIDS FILTROX specializes only in solid-liquid separation. Most of our customers want to remove micro particles from their liquids (“clarification”) or bacteria (“cold sterilization”). Some customers are also interested in the unfiltrate, trying to collect certain solids from a liquid (“cake harvesting”). DEPTH FILTRATION FILTROX specializes in depth filters. In a depth-filter, liquids are forced under pressure through a three-dimensional matrix, typically formed of cellulosic or other fibers, in which the particles are being trapped. Depth filters are typically used in applications with higher dirt loads, where other filters such as membranes do not provide sufficient life-time. Depth filters typically have a thickness of 3-4 mm, which is 3000 to 4000 times the size of a 1-micron particle. SYSTEMS FILTROX develops, manufactures and sells complete systems comprising both filter media (e.g. filter sheets) and filter equipment (e.g. filter presses). We are committed to support our customers from the time a process is setup in the lab to full-scale production, both with filter equipment and filter media.
PURADISC ® BIO SD is the first depth filter using the advantages of alluvial filtration in a disposable format. The filtration system removes particles (e.g. cells), impurities (e.g. HCP, DNA) and other turbid matter. This technology is also available for single-use cell separation. The system is fully scalable and disposable.
DISCSTAR ® BIO SD stainless steel housings are designed to insert PURASDISC ® BIO SD single-use filter modules. The housings are tiltable and a trolley is available to transport the modules, which guarantees easy loading and unloading of the filter modules.
PURASPIN ® depth filtration units are designed for small scale filtration trials. They allow efficient and cost-effective depth filtration of up to 20 mL. They can be used as a depth filter unit in a centrifuge or by applying vacuum.
PURACAP ® and PURACAP ® BIO SD are filter capsules for lab and pilot scale filtration trials. The capsules are used as a tool to generate the data needed for a propper scale-up. PURACAP ® is used for standard depth filtration (sheet filtration), PURACAP ® BIO SD for alluvial filtration (e.g. clarification of cell broth).
ACTIVASORB ® depth filter sheets are used in various applications such as decolorization, deodorization or catalyst removal. This type of filter sheets contains immobilized activated carbon which allows a easy and clean handling. In addtion, treatment with immobilized activated carbon is much more efficient compared to loose carbon powder due to a forced contact of the impurities with the activated carbon.
The PURASPIN ® Test Kit contains 5 different filter sheet types for laboratory filtration tests for coarse, fine, clarifying and sterile filtration. A practical and easy-to-use tool to define the right filtration solution at an early stage in the development process.
The SCALE-UP Test Kit is a tool to find the ideal depth filter at an early stage of the process development. The test kit contains 10 different PURASPIN ® for 20 mL trials, a 2" capsule with a selection of filter sheets for verification and the necessary information for a proper scale-up calculation.
PURAFIX ® depth filter sheets are specially developed for use in demanding applications in the biological and pharmaceutical industries. They are characterized by their high purity and extremly low content of extractable endotoxins and ions. This product line is also available with a positive zeta potential. PURAFIX ® filter sheets are also available as lenticular modules (12" and 16" PURADISC ® ).
The NOVOX ® CP is a high precision plate & frame filter, designed for pharmaceutical and other critical applications. This filter is an enclosed filtration system completely sealed for CIP without filter sheets. It eliminates any drip loss and prevents the liquid from having contact with the outside environment.
DISCSTAR ® LS and H are high-capacity depth filtration systems with no drip loss. They have pharma-approved valves and pressure gauges and are therefore ideally suited for highly sensitive applications in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.
