Vivaflow® SU TFF Cassettes (PES, for up to 500 mL feeds) are very effective for small-scale antibody concentration and buffer exchange, and they’ve performed exceptionally well. The PES membrane offers excellent recovery antibodies, with minimal nonspecific binding—critical when working with early-stage or low-yield antibody samples. Setup is straightforward, and the single-use format eliminates cleaning and cross-contamination risks, making it ideal for fast turnaround and parallel processing. Whether used before downstream chromatography or final formulation, these cassettes deliver consistent results and save valuable time. Vivaflow^® SU is a next generation plug-and-play tangential flow filtration (TFF) cassette, for ultrafiltration and diafiltration of intermediate sample volumes. It has been specifically designed for ease of use in research and development laboratories.

For feed samples of 100 mL and more, concentration and buffer exchange using centrifugal ultrafilters is cumbersome, labor intensive and time consuming, leading to a decrease in productivity. However, TFF based on scale-down process technology is expensive, complicated and requires additional effort in process optimization.

Re-designed from the ground up, Vivaflow^® SU features a new housing and flow path design, and offers an increased range of membrane materials and MWCOs. Compared to the previous generation cassettes, this results in enhanced ease of use and improved ultrafiltration and diafiltration performance for virtually any biomolecule.

In addition, single-use plastic waste has been minimized, with a lighter housing derived from renewable, ISCC PLUS certified sources. Together with paper-rich packaging and tailored tubing kits, this reduces the environmental impact of your research.

This chamber is located between the anion membrane facing the anode and the cation membrane facing the cathode. The anion membrane is designed to allow only the migration of anions and the cation membrane allows the migration of only cations. A concentration chamber which is used to collect unwanted ions. This chamber is bounded by the anion membrane facing the cathode and cation membrane facing the anode. Attracted by the charge of their respective electrodes, the ions migrate in a steady stream through the cation- and anion membrane. The negatively-charged anions (e.g., Cl-) are attracted to the anode (+) and repelled by the cathode (-). The concentration of ions in the concentration chamber increases relative to the feed. In the concentrate stream, electrical neutrality is maintained. Transported ions from the two directions, bounded to hydrogen and hydroxyl ions, neutralize one another’s charge. This production and migration of hydrogen and hydroxyl ions is the mechanism that continuously regenerates the resin.
