StepOnePlus thermocyclers aren't new products, but I’d like to highlight how we’ve been using two units from this brand for about 15 years, and they continue to perform as expected. Despite being used heavily—an average of three to five times a day, Monday through Friday, for 15 to 16 years—maintenance has been needed only rarely. While we've encountered some issues over the years, the machines still generate reliable data. They’re user-friendly, though the software could benefit from updates over time. Overall, they've more than paid off in terms of value and performance.

The StepOnePlus™ system brings advanced real-time PCR technology to a new level of accessibility. Beginning at the StepOne software homepage, you can seamlessly navigate through all aspects of the real-time PCR method including sample and reaction set-up, thermal cycling, and fluorescent detection.
The software is even pre-populated with the right run protocol for each application when using reagents from Applied Biosystems. Just enter your plate set up and go. Depending on the experimental design, the system can even help you select and order real-time PCR reagents online by means of convenient links in the Design Wizard. The StepOnePlus System is a long life LED based optical system that records fluorescence from FAM/SYBR Green, VIC/JOE, NED/TAMRA and ROX dyes for gene expression analysis, pathogen detection, SNP genotyping and presence/absence assays. This 4-color/96 well system delivers precise, quantitative real-time PCR results that you can have total confidence in.
