Genomics - sampling
This product is excellent for stabilizing biological samples at room temperature for extended periods, making it ideal for fieldwork or sample collection in remote locations far from the lab. It preserves nucleic acids effectively without the need for refrigeration or immediate processing. My only concern is that during transport—especially if the journey is bumpy—the solution tends to generate a significant amount of bubbles. This can make it a bit challenging to accurately pipette out small volumes (a few milliliters), as the bubbles can interfere with precision.

Excellent Product!
Stabilizing solution for sample storage
DNA/RNA Shield has been a great addition to our lab. We are able to use it for transcriptome, microbiome, and resistome work. It is easy to use- does not foam up like other similar products, so you get more product for your money with no waste. The price is economical, and comparable to other methods we have used in the past. Beyond that, the sales team was incredibly helpful and eager to explain multiple ways in which this product could be used. We stored some unique samples in it, and the team was happy to walk me through possible solutions.

Storing coral samples for metabarcoding and transcriptomics.
Between the ability to store samples and possess stable nucleic acids for weeks in room temperature and the incredible price, this product is a no brainer! Cheaper than many competitors and lyses your samples while in storage, the ease of storage to extraction (done in the same liquid) is why I will keep buying this.

DNA/RNA Shield™ ensures nucleic acid stability during sample storage/transport at ambient temperatures. There is no need for refrigeration or specialized equipment. DNA/RNA Shield™ effectively lyses cells and inactivates nucleases and infectious agents (virus), and it is compatible with various collection and storage devices (vacutainers, swabs, nasal, buccal, fecal etc.). DNA/RNA Shield™ Recommended R1100-50, R1100-250 Cells, Tissue, Swabs, Stool etc. Samples should not exceed 10% (v/v).
