Analytik has announced the first UK workshop at their new premises in Cambridge. Run in partnership with Agilent Technologies, the free-to-attend meeting will focus on portable & handheld molecular spectroscopy.

Molecular spectroscopy techniques are extremely well suited to be applied as portable or handheld instruments. Their simplicity, speed, selectivity, and ability to operate without sample preparation make them ideal to be used outside of the laboratory in more challenging environments. By bringing the analyzer to the sample and making measurements when and where they are required, the full benefits of molecular spectroscopy can be realized.

Since becoming a channel partner for Agilent Technologies, and incorporating their unique handheld and portable FTIR products into their spectroscopy portfolio, Analytik is now able to deliver the three core vibrational spectroscopy techniques, FTIR (Mid-IR), NIR and Raman, as portable solutions.

In order to keep you up to date with the latest innovations in mobile spectroscopy and the powerful potential applications available, Analytik working in collaboration with Agilent is running a "Portable and Handheld Molecular Spectroscopy Workshop" on Tuesday 17th July 2012 at Analytik's premises in Swavesey, Cambridge.

Product specialists from both Agilent and Analytik will be available for consultation at the workshop. The day will consist of a mix of presentations and product demonstrations, and will give delegates the opportunity for practical hands-on sessions using the FTIR, NIR and Raman instruments. Delegates are encouraged to bring along their own samples to measure and experience the ease of using these tools first hand.

Infrared / IR SpectroscopyInfrared (IR) spectroscopy measures the interaction of infrared light with a sample, including transmission, reflectance & absorbance, facilitating the identification of analytes. Equipment used for quantitative analysis includes Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers, infrared cameras, FTIR gas analyzers, as well as attenuated total reflectance (ATR) accessories and pellet or film presses. Measurements can be conducted using a Fourier-transform near infrared (FT-NIR) spectrometer, while there are also UV-Vis- NIR spectrophotometers that measure a broader spectrum of wavelengths. Explore a range of Raman spectrometers, including handheld/portable Raman spectrometers for QC/QA labs and in situ spectrometers for processes. Conduct Raman imaging for microanalysis of mixed samples using a Raman microscope. Raman spectrographs are also available.
