Myositis plus benefits its users in several aspects: The novel immunoblot by ORGENTEC Diagnostika not only facilitates the certain interpretation of a cytoplasmic immunofluorescence pattern and the correlation with antibodies relevant for diagnosing autoimmune disorders. In addition to that this new type of immunoblot allows for distinguishing antibodies related to myositis from those antibodies specific for this autoimmune disease. By this means this immunoblot is predestinated to support diagnosis of autoimmune myositis.

Provided with nine antigens, Myositis plus is a high-performance test system for clinical diagnostics of several autoimmune disorders, such as idiopathic myositis, polymyositis/scleroderma overlap syndromes, primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), antisyntethase syndrome, or systemic lupus erythematosus. The antigens applied on Myositis plus are: M2, Jo-1, PM-Scl-100, PL 7, PL 12, Mi-2, Ku (p70/80), SRP, Rib-P.

Noteworthy is the SRP complex (signal recognition particle) that in this innovative immunoblot system is used together with all the six polypeptides and the 7SL RNA, in contrast to other test systems. By the same token, the Ku (p70/80) antigen, which is utilised in its native and non-denaturated form, stands alone.

Myositis plus is available in two packages sizes, 8 and 16 immunoblot strips; all reagents are ready to use. As well as all immunoblots by ORGENTEC Diagnostika, each strip is provided with a cut-off control, a serum and a conjugate control, and features an individual coding that prevents interchange of tests.

The immunoblot technology is particularly valuable to differentiate autoantibody profiles after ELISA screening or immunofluorescence tests. They are fast to be carried out, economically priced, easy to interpret, and they pay off quickly.
