Thermo Introduces New Finnpipette Novus 1200 and Finntip Flex 1200 tips

Thermo Electron Corporation, the world leader in analytical instruments, today announced the Finnpipette® Novus 1200 multichannel pipette and Finntip® Flex 1200 tips. Each of the eight channels of the Novus 1200 pipettes up to 1200µl either as a large single or smaller repeat volumes.

This makes it ideal for the rapid pipetting of between 50 and 100µl into each well of a 96-well plate, or high volume pipetting into deep-well plates. As with the entire Finnpipette Novus range, the Novus 1200 is carefully designed for comfortable and stress free operation. The Finntip Flex 1200 tips enhance this experience since they have been specially developed for the Novus 1200. They have a wide orifice ideal for stepping and the rack system allows one-handed opening with a stable non-slip base.

The Finnpipette Novus 1200 enables the user to program up to ten pipetting functions, meeting most laboratory needs. For example, the Novus 1200 can be programmed to draw up more than one sample into each Finntip Flex 1200 tip and mix them together on dispensing, making reaction set-up much easier. Aspiration and dispensing speeds can also be set independently of each other to suit a wide range of different liquids. The Finnpipette Novus 1200 has a convenient 9 place memory, which enables it to store all the pipetting functions of each user, allowing researchers to easily skip between programs, thus simplifying daily routines. The Novus 1200 is also designed for easy in-lab calibration providing accurate and precise pipetting performance.

Both long- and short-term users of the Novus 1200 will benefit from the careful design, since all possible causes of strain have been reduced. The finger rest position can be adjusted and the trigger button only requires a light touch. Moreover, the flexible thin-wall technology of the Finntip Flex 1200 tips reduces attachment and ejection forces. This combined with the soft tip ejection of the Novus 1200, enhances the stress-free day-to-day operation. As a result, the Novus 1200 together with Flex 1200 are an easy-to-use semi-automated liquid dispensing system.
