Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the worldwide leader in serving science, today announced the new Thermo Scientific HAAKE RheoWin 4 software with extended capabilities for rheological investigations, including compatibility with the Windows Vista operating system.

HAAKE RheoWin software is user-friendly, with an improved operator interface that offers easy-to-use standard settings for beginners. Typical measuring and evaluation routines can be chosen from a job library. A comprehensive list of predefined measuring and evaluation elements can be combined via ‘’drag & drop’’ with individual jobs.

New measuring and evaluation functions in the software simplify existing routines and offer new experimental possibilities: loops with various breaking criteria can be programmed in a measuring procedure. In order to evaluate the quality of single data points, oscillatory raw data can be analyzed via Lissajous figures and higher harmonic waves.

’’The HAAKE RheoWin enables beginners and experts to carry out rheological measurements of the highest technical standard using a user-friendly measuring and evaluation software,” says Markus Schreyer, vice president and general manager of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Material Characterization business unit. ’’Therefore, we now offer HAAKE RheoWin 4 with well-known and extended functionalities for Windows Vista.”

Optional modules are available to extend the basic version of the software. Modules for specific applications (e.g. polymers) are available as well as for GMP compliance (e.g. FDA 21 CFR part 11). With the new Thermo Scientific RheoAdaptive Control module, the controlled rate (CR) and controlled deformation (CD) mode can be significantly optimized. Using this new control mode, and depending on the sample, very short response times can be achieved using ultra-low rotational speed (down to 10-8 rpm).

Thermo Fisher Scientific successfully supports a wide range of industries with its comprehensive Thermo Scientific Material Characterization solutions. Material Characterization solutions analyze and measure viscosity, elasticity, processability and temperature-related mechanical changes of plastics, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and coatings, plus a wide variety of liquids or solids. Detailed information is provided on the company article webpage.

Data software can be used for math and stats, technical graphing and image analysis. In addition, software is available for specific data analysis of electrophoresis, densitometry, ELISA and DNA sequencing.RheometryRheometers are used to measure the rheology of fluids, which is the flow of fluids in response to an applied force. The most common types of rheometer include shear rheometers (capillary, cone and plate and rotational cylinder) and extensional rheometers. Viscometers are similar to rheometers however viscometers only measure the viscosity of a fluid.ViscometersViscometers are used to measure the viscosity of a fluid. Types of viscometer include rotational, vibrational and falling piston viscometers. Options for viscometers include modular, portable, benchtop and temperature compensation and density measurement features.
