Product news

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, offers a wide range of high quality adhesive seals to suit a variety of PCR and storage requirements. Thermo Scientific Adhesive Seals are certified free from DNase, RNase and human genomic DNA and provide a strong seal to prevent evaporation of sample during thermal cycling or storage.

Every adhesive seal in the Thermo Scientific range is designed to allow easy handling and positioning. The PCR and QPCR seals can be peeled back, without leaving a sticky residue, meaning that they can be re-sealed with ease. The ABsolute QPCR seal uses a non-tacky adhesive that only activates once pressure is applied to the seal, which makes applying the seal extremely simple. The Thermo Scientific Adhesive Seal Applicator (cat. no. AB-1391) is ideal for sealing all plates as the flat, rigid design helps apply consistent pressure across the entire plate for an even seal.

The complete range of Thermo Scientific adhesive seals has been developed to suit a number of applications and requirements, including:

  • ABsolute™ QPCR Seal (cat. no. AB-1170) – an optically clear film designed to provide superior fluorescence transmission, developed for QPCR and other optical applications.
  • Adhesive PCR Film (cat. no. AB-0558) – a reliable, clear plastic film that provides maximum sample security during thermal cycling whilst allowing samples to be easily visualised.
  • Adhesive PCR Foil (cat. no. AB-0626) – a thin aluminium layer that is easy to pierce and is ideal for automated applications. This robust, DMSO-resistant seal also provides excellent sample security during thermal cycling or storage, withstanding temperatures in the range of -70 to 150ºC.

Thermo Scientific Adhesive Seals are available in sheets that are designed to fit SBS dimensioned plates or rolls. For further information, visit the article webpage.

MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications.
