Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has introduced the Thermo Scientific TriPlus RSH Autosampler featuring increased precision, flexibility and productivity in sampling solutions. Compatible with Thermo Scientific GC and GC/MS systems, the autosampler provides liquid handling cycles that enable automated functionality beyond traditional liquid, headspace and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) injections.

The Automatic Tool Change (ATC) capability enables seamless operation by automating the exchange of syringes for different tasks in a single, unattended sequence prior to sample injection. In this way, high-precision sample-handling capabilities eliminate the need for extensive manual intervention and downtime traditionally required to complete tasks, such as standard or stock sample dilutions, internal standard addition and derivatisation.

A sample vial capacity of 648 2-mL vials, combined with multiple 100-mL wash/waste bottles, allows the Thermo Scientific TriPlus RSH to achieve weekend-long unattended operations.

Vial Bottom Sensing is a further innovation that expands the application range of the TriPlus RSH autosampler. Detecting the vial bottom, the autosampler withdraws microliters or fractions of microliters from a sample as low as five microliters in a vial. Trace analysis, radioactive samples or samples requiring expensive internal standards are just a few examples of the applications that benefit from this autosampler.

AutosamplersAutosamplers are automated sample loaders used with a number of separation and analytical techniques. HPLC autosamplers use automated partial or full-loop injection systems and place samples in vials or microplates for analysis. Autosamplers can also be used for elemental analysis. Features to consider include repeatability, syringe capacity, footprint and temperature controls.  Mass SpectrometryMass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful analytical technique used to identify and quantify molecules based on the mass-to-charge ratio of gas-phase ions. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. Automated Liquid HandlingAutomated liquid handling equipment is used to mix, dilute and dispense allotted volumes of liquid into microplates and other vessels automatically. The robotic, liquid handling arms can dispense from single channel to 3456 multichannel as well as operate nanoliter dispensing, enabling high throughput of samples. Often used in drug detection, forensic investigation and environmental analysis for pesticides and contaminants, GC-MS is a powerful addition to your lab’s analytical capabilities. GC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzers can give greater sensitivity and resolution to your analysis.
