Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, introduces the Thermo Scientific Pierce Fast Western Blot Kit, ECL Substrate. Using the new Pierce Fast Western Blot Kit, scientists can perform a typical Western blot in 55 minutes. The kit provides all the necessary reagents to complete a Western blot that was probed with a mouse or rabbit primary antibody, yielding results comparable to classical methods.

The economical method does not require special instrumentation as is required of other kits and no vacuum pumps are needed, eliminating problems with clogged lines or membranes. The Pierce ECL Substrate supplied with the kit produces a chemiluminescent signal that is easily captured using photographic or other imaging methods. Blots can be repeatedly exposed to film to obtain optimal results or stripped of the primary antibody and immunodetection reagents and reprobed.

The Pierce Fast Western Blot Kit is available in two sizes, with reagents for either five or 25 Western blots (8 x 10 cm). For more information on the Pierce Fast Western Blot Kit, ECL Substrate, please contact the company.

Western BlottingWestern blotting equipment is used to transfer and identify specific proteins within a sample, reveal protein modifications, as well as give a semi-quantitative estimation of their concentration. Western blotting equipment includes all apparatus necessary to transfer proteins from gel to membrane and subsequent processing steps. Protein transfer can be performed by electroblotting with wet, semi-dry and dry transfer systems onto nitrocellulose and PVDF membranes. Blocking, washing and labeling of membranes follows, involving buffers, blocking reagents, blotting / incubation trays, labeling reagents, immunoblotting assays, antibodies and conjugates. Automated equipment for these steps is available to accelerate your lab workflow. Finally, detection and imaging of proteins can be conducted using gel documentation and imaging systems.
