Product news

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, announces the launch of two new additions to its flagship range of Hypersil GOLD™ HPLC columns. Further extending its already extensive range, the Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD columns, packed with 1.9um particles, are now available in two new dimensions. Designed to increase productivity for users in HPLC and Fast LC analyses, these new additions are ideal for rapid quantitative separations.

The new Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD 1.9um Javelin™ HTS column takes fast chromatography to the extreme. This shorter 10mm column enables analysis times as rapid as eight seconds to be achieved and is ideal for fast, simple applications such as dissolution tests, reaction monitoring and main band assays. The Javelin HTS column format utilizes ultra-low dead volume and direct-connect hardware to minimize dispersion.

Additionally, 1.9um Hypersil GOLD media is now also available packed into a high pressure column 50mm long and 4.6mm internal diameter. Traditionally, a 1.9um column is used on UHPLC instruments. However, by producing less backpressure, this new wider column is attainable to users of conventional systems where pressure limits are often in the 6000psi/400bar region, ensuring fast chromatography without the need for extensive instrument optimization. Equally, this column can still be used on ultra high pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) instruments, including the Thermo Scientific Accela™ High Speed LC.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns.
