Product news

Workflow solutions designed for biopharmaceutical, clinical research, service provider laboratories and academic settings need streamlined and fit-for-purpose software platforms to support capillary electrophoresis (CE) applications. To help address this gap, Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the Applied Biosystems™ InnoviGene™ Suite*, an intuitive, browser-based software platform to automate and optimize CE data analysis that enables 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

First launching with capabilities for Sanger sequencing, InnoviGene Suite enables researchers and scientists to efficiently manage and analyze their sequencing data, ensuring reliable results and sharing customizable reports. The InnoviGene Suite initiates data exchange and analysis as soon as a run is complete, helping limit manual work that may lead to errors. Automated data tools such as quality control, confirmation, and mismatch detection can deliver improved efficiency and accuracy to optimize Sanger analysis.

InnoviGene software can be accessed within or outside the lab network through a browser, enabling collaboration within teams while supporting the security and privacy of data. Up to five users can access the platform at a time, connecting any number of CE instruments across a lab for increased collaboration and access to complete data.

Features/Benefits:

  • Enables 21 CFR Part 11 compliance: A dedicated console (Security, Audit, e-signature) enables electronic records, users management, tracking and monitoring of processes.
  • AI-based basecalling: Advanced machine learning algorithms help accurately identify nucleotide sequences, enhancing the precision and efficiency of data analysis and reducing the need for resequencing difficult samples.
  • Data automation: Streamline and optimize Sanger data analysis leveraging automated features (quality control, confirmation, mismatch detection) for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  • Browser-based access: Multiple users in the lab can access the software simultaneously from any location, sharing the same data and protocols for collaborative and efficient work.
  • Customizable reports: Users can tailor the presentation of data to their specific needs, thereby enhancing the clarity and relevance of the information presented.

*The Applied Biosystems InnoviGene Suite is available for Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Capillary ElectrophoresisCapillary electrophoresis (CE) is used to separate molecules based on charge, size and hydrophobicity. Pressure, voltage or a vacuum is used to introduce the sample to fused silica capillaries. Fluorescence, UV/Vis, UV or diode array detectors are used to visualize components. Types of CE systems include capillary electrochromatography (CEC), capillary zone electrophoresis and capillary gel electrophoresis. Electrophoresis equipment includes horizontal and vertical gel electrophoresis chambers, isoelectric focusing systems, 2D electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis instruments. Precast gels with a gradient can be used or gels can be hand cast. Samples are run alongside ladders or markers to identify the approximate size of a molecule. Separated proteins and nucleic acids in the gel can be stained or probed with fluorescent markers and then imaged and detected using gel documentation instruments, transilluminators, densitometers and scanners.
