Product news

Pall Life Sciences, a global industry leader in filtration, separation and purification, will be launching the Acrodisc WBC (white blood cell) premium syringe filter, a proven sample preparation device for the laboratory at AACC, July 29th, 2014.

The Acrodisc WBC is used to capture and recover leukocytes and for the separation of erythrocytes (red blood cells) and platelets from whole blood samples. The premium syringe filter removes >90% of the leukocytes from whole blood samples, which results in the collection of a greater population of enriched red blood cells (RBCs) from the sample. The RBCs can then be used in a variety of cellular and antigenic analyses. The captured leukocytes may also be used in further analysis, e.g., in various immune or gene expression studies.

The Acrodisc WBC isolation syringe filter contains Pall’s patented and proven Leukosorb® media, a fibrous matrix that is specially designed for blood cell separation procedures. Another key feature, the Effective Filtration Area (EFA) enables faster filtration and separation of the sample, which translates to very low hold up volumes. These key features working in tandem — the EFA combined with the capacity of the Leukosorb media to efficiently separate blood cells — result in higher cell recoveries from smaller sample volumes.

The Acrodisc WBC is ideally suited for a wide range of research applications such as antigen specificity and modulation studies, immune receptor analysis, receptor protein studies, genotyping, gene expression, and cell therapy.

The Acrodisc WBC premium syringe filter is being launched at the 2014 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo, Pall Life Sciences Booth No. 3540. Pall representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide more information about the Acrodisc WBC and Pall’s complete line of leading membrane products.

The Acrodisc WBC premium syringe filter is for research use only, not intended for diagnostic purposes.

Pall Life Sciences - Laboratory, Food, Beverage

Pall Life Sciences' Acrodisc WBC premium syringe filter is an innovative filtration device designed specifically for use in the capture and recovery of Leukocytes and the separation of red blood cells. The Acrodisc WBC filter contains Pall's patented Leukosorb media. Leukosorb is a fibrous matrix that uses a multimodal approach of size exclusion and adsorption to capture and recover leukocytes from whole blood samples while allowing Red Blood Cells (RBCs) and platelets to flow through the membrane. With the Acrodisc WBC, the uniquely designed filter does all the difficult capture work, resulting in more efficient white blood cell separation as compared to Buffy Coat density gradient methods. The Acrodisc WBC yields greater cell capture and recovery with less sample compared to larger filter formats and also exudes very low hold up volume as compared to larger white blood cell isolation filters (hold up volume   Applications: Antigenic specificity Antigen modulation studies Cell receptor analysis Lymphocyte recovery for cell therapy Stem cell research applications
