Product news

SelectScience visited the Sysmex UK booth at Biomedica 2012 which was held in Dublin, Ireland this week. The company very kindly gave us a demonstration of the newly released Sysmex XN-Series hematology analyzer.

The new series was launched at the IFCC World Lab in Berlin, and showcased at the IBMS Congress in Birmingham 2011. The technology offers significant advantages over existing platforms and has generated a lot of interest in the clinical community.

The new analyzer is extremely compact and highly versatile system with a high degree of adaptability within a small space. Analytical modules are linked with expandable components for sample transport, sample sorting, automatic preparations and staining of smears, ESR analysis, HbA1c as well as digital morphology. The XN-Series can be configured in a line of up to 9 modules offering solutions for laboratories of any size.

Changes to the analytical module include a new sample gripping mechanism and a more secure method of barcode sampling. The reagent boxes are also smaller and easier to handle. Samples can move forwards and backwards on the sample track for reflex testing and the XN also offers the ability to process a STAT sample whilst simultaneously processing routine samples.
