A perfect mix of theory and practical applications as well as a productive exchange between participants and FRITSCH application consultants characterizes the FRITSCH workshops. And again were the seminar slots of both workshops completely booked.

In April, 30 participants joined the one day workshop Milling and Sizing. The popular workshop series was also held in the FRITSCH headquarters in Idar-Oberstein.

Two lectures made up the theoretical part: FRITSCH application consultant Dipl. Ing. Holger Brecht informed about sample preparation and product manager for Particle Sizers, Dr. Günther Crolly about particle sizing. The tour of the FRITSCH production facilities was followed by the hands on part of the workshop.

During the practical part of the seminar held in the FRITSCH laboratories, participants were divided into small groups and the samples brought in, were comminuted with FRITSCH mills or measured with the FRITSCH Particle Sizers.

The next FRITSCH Workshops held in Germany will be on September 3rd in Berlin and on September 5th in Dortmund. At www.fritsch.de you will find a complete schedule of all national and international FRITSCH workshops.

Sample PreparationSample preparation can improve the quality and speed of separation techniques. Products to assist sample preparation include filtration equipment, evaporators, membranes and sieves.FiltrationFiltration and microfiltration are used to separate solids, particulates or large molecules from fluids (liquid or gases) in order to purify the filtrate. Explore a range of filter formats, including filter paper, plates and membranes for your separation needs. While larger particulates may be separated by gravity filtration, smaller particulates may require additional force for timely separation. Microfiltration equipment includes vacuum filters, as well as positive pressure, crossflow and centrifugal filtration devices. Multiple tecchniques are available for determining particle size, shape and count including dynamic light scattering (DLS), laser diffraction, electrozone (Coulter technique), imaging particle analysis and single particle optical sensing. Determine the density of your material with a gas pycnometer or examine its surface area and porosity with gas adsorption analyzers and mercury porosimeters.
