Product news

Streck is showcasing two sample stabilization products at the 2016 American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting in New Orleans, April 17-20, 2016. See Streck at booth #1558.

Cell-Free DNA BCT® is a 10 ml blood collection tube with a formaldehyde-free preservative that stabilizes nucleated blood cells. The unique stabilization prevents the release of genomic DNA, allowing isolation of high-quality cell-free DNA for a wide range of downstream applications commonly used in clinical research studies, drug discovery and diagnostic assay development. Streck Cell-Free DNA BCT improves study logistics with convenient sample collection, transport and storage options. Samples collected in the Streck tubes maintain cell-free DNA stability for up to 14 days and circulating tumor cells are stable for up to 4 days – at room temperature. Streck will be introducing a new 2 ml tube in the summer of 2016 and also plans to introduce plastic tubes later in the year.

Cell-Free DNA Urine Preserve is a formaldehyde-free liquid reagent that stabilizes cell-free DNA in urine for use in prenatal diagnosis, disease diagnosis and treatment efficacy monitoring, and organ transplant rejection monitoring. The reagent stabilizes all cellular components including red blood cells, white blood cells, and proteins present at the time of collection. Samples treated with Cell-Free DNA Urine Preserve are stable up to 7 days at 6 °C to 37 °C. The reagent allows for standard urinalysis testing and cell-free DNA extraction for downstream testing to be done within existing laboratory workflows without compromising sample integrity. A clear version of the reagent is now available; the company is testing a color additive which will visually indicate the patient sample has been treated and plans to bring the revised validated product to market later in the year.

Streck develops and manufactures products for clinical and research laboratories around the world. Product lines support the fields of hematology, immunology and molecular diagnostics. Streck’s core technology is cell stabilization and the products the company is showcasing at AACR are from the cell stabilization product line. For more information, visit www.streck.com.

The use of biomarkers in research and diagnosis can indicate a normal or disease state or drug response of cells / tissues. Biomarkers include genetic markers, cell surface markers such as antigens, antibodies or receptors and secreted molecules such as cytokines. An assay system is required for identification of biomarkers. :Cancer DiagnosticsThere are a wide variety of diagnostic tests for cancer available, and this range continues to expand as our knowledge of cancer improves. Current diagnostic methods include biopsy, imaging and blood tests for known biomarkers. New methods in research development include liquid biopsies and cancer breathalyzers.Cancer ResearchCancer research aims to understand the mechanisms of cancer development and progression to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. From molecular biology to clinical trials, research spans a wide range of disciplines, including immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and drug discovery.
