The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) today announced a partnership with Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute for the Institute to hold a satellite symposium in connection with SLAS2014, the Third Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Society. SLAS2014 will be held January 18-22, 2014, at the San Diego Convention Center.

This symposium will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, January 19, at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine in La Jolla, California. The scientific program will be focused on stem cell and regenerative medicine research, and will feature multiple educational sessions delivered by prominent investigators from Sanford-Burnham, the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and elsewhere, along with a tour of the facility. Admission to this symposium will be complimentary to SLAS2014 registrants.

“SLAS is proud to partner with a research institute as prestigious as Sanford-Burnham to deliver value-added programming to attendees of our annual conference,” said Jeff Paslay, president of SLAS. “Our complementary missions centered on education and innovation for scientific research make this a natural alliance from which all participants will undoubtedly benefit.”

“Sanford-Burnham looks forward to hosting this unique satellite program in connection with SLAS2014,” said Christian Hassig, Ph.D., director of drug discovery at Sanford-Burnham. “Considering their front-line roles in research, academia and industry, SLAS participants represent an ideal professional audience to expand collaborative work in stem cell research and facilitate its translation into clinical therapies.”
