Shimadzu, one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of analytical instrumentation, has created a new Laboratory World for its customers from all over Europe. The Laboratory World is located at Shimadzu's European headquarters in Duisburg, Germany. On an area greater than 1,500 m2, testing facilities are available for Shimadzu's entire product range – from chromatographs, spectrophotometers, TOC analyzers, mass spectrometers and balances up to material testing machines. Mass spectrometry, a technology that Shimadzu has significantly shaped in recent years, will be highlighted in its dedicated space. In addition, laboratory areas for customer applications and seminar facilities are being expanded.

"The Laboratory World offers numerous opportunities both for our customers and us", explains Jürgen Kwass, Managing Director of Shimadzu Europa. "Here, we develop solutions that are primarily geared to the growing needs of industries and science. The Laboratory World provides even better demonstration facilities to help our customers experience daily operation as realistically as possible. In addition, we offer continuing education and training to customers as well as staff members. Another goal is to create an inspiring atmosphere for our team in which they can develop new methods and technologies for future-oriented products." says Kwass.

The continuing advances in technologies, systems and methods in recent years require companies in a wide range of industries, institutions and the scientific community to be offered a more extensive, improved and comfortable environment for continuing education and training. In addition, consumer and product safety regulations have been extended in recent years, which means that testing and analysis needs - and consequently the need for training - will continue to increase in the future.

Shimadzu has invested a total of 3.2 million Euros in the expansion of its laboratory and training facilities.

The new facilities will be opened on April, 15 2013 by Akira Nakamoto, President and CEO of Shimadzu Corporation, the Japanese Consul Kiyoshi Koinuma and Duisburg's Lord Mayor Sören Link.

Mass SpectrometryMass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful analytical technique used to identify and quantify molecules based on the mass-to-charge ratio of gas-phase ions. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. ChromatographyChromatography is a powerful technique used to separate and analyze components of mixtures based on their chemical properties. It is widely used in fields like biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and environmental analysis. By exploiting differences in the interaction of substances with a stationary phase and a mobile phase, chromatography enables precise purification and quantification of compounds. Whether you're working with complex biological samples or industrial chemicals, chromatography is essential for obtaining high-quality results.
