Shimadzu Introduce Polymeric, Single-Use Targets for MALDI Analysis

FlexiMass™-DS are new, cost-effective disposable targets for MALDI analysis developed for Shimadzu Biotech. These targets are plastic single-use MALDI substrates manufactured from conductive polymeric material for consistent MALDI performance. They consist of a high-quality reproducible metalized target surface and are manufactured to high tolerances for excellent reliability.

The targets are supplied in a 48 well microscope slide format making them suitable for either manual or automated robotic sample spotting. FlexiMass-DS targets are designed for use with the purpose-built Precision™ adaptor, which can be loaded with four targets, enabling the analysis of up to 192 samples in a single session.

The features and benefits of using these revolutionary new targets include cost effectiveness when compared to traditional stainless steel substrates and no requirement for cleaning prior to use, minimizing sample preparation time, and the elimination of carryover issues from sample to sample. FlexiMass-DS are suitable for most types of MALDI sample and matrices and may be used with the following AXIMA™ systems - Assurance, Confidence, Performance, Resonance, TOF2, LNR, CFR, CFRplus, QIT.
