The SelectScience team is attending the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2019, where we will be interviewing scientists at the forefront of cancer research and reporting on technological innovations that could make all the difference. Taking place from March 29 - April 3, 2019 in Atlanta, USA, AACR brings together cancer research specialists from across the globe to highlight the best developments in cancer science.

More than 400 exhibitors will arrive from across the globe to display their new technologies for lab and clinical research — SelectScience will be visiting their booths to speak to the scientists behind these innovations.

Follow SelectScience and this exciting event for:

  • The latest science and technology news, delivered through our dedicated AACR 2019 feature page
  • Daily news roundups, including new technology launches from the show floor
  • The winners of the 2019 Life Sciences Scientists’ Choice Awards, revealed at a special award ceremony on Monday, April 1
  • Video interviews with leading figures in cancer research, technology innovators and the AACR team

In addition, our editors will be conducting interviews with key opinion leaders for our new video platform, The Scientists' Channel.

OrganoPlate® 3-lane

MIMETAS B.V.

The OrganoPlate 3-lane features 40 independent culture cells, each supporting adjacent in-gel culture and 2 perfusion channels, that can contain perfused tubular tissues. The 3-lane models supports apical and basal access to epithelial and endothelial tubules, allowing barrier integrity and transport assays. The lanes are 400 micron wide. Six wells of the 384-well-plate user interface connect to each microfluidic network in a 9x9 well grid, the central well provides viewing access to the microtissue.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. High-quality cells, optimized for your applications, alongside optimized cell substrates, growth medium and supplements, are critical for experimental success. Explore a range of cells suitable for your applications, including isogenic cell lines, competent cells, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell lines, fungal/bacterial/mammalian cell lines, stem cells and cancer cell lines. The purification process typically involves subcellular or membrane protein extraction with cell lysis kits, separation of proteins from cell debris by filtration or spin columns, and the isolation of proteins of interest from other proteins and impurities with affinity purification (including fusion protein tags and antibody binding proteins A, G and L), immunoprecipitation or chromatographic methods, such as ion exchange, size exclusion and immobilized metal affinity chromatography. All purification methods come in multiple formats for your laboratory needs, including agarose or magnetic beads, resins, columns and filter plates. Find the best protein purification equipment in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Gene Expression and Molecular CloningMolecular cloning is a set of techniques that utilizes vectors to transfer recombinant DNA into host cells and is an essential tool for investigating the expression of genes and proteins in bacterial or mammalian cells. A variety of vectors optimized for gene cloning and expression in a range of host organisms are available, alongside competent cells for genetic replication. Here, you can explore a range of molecular tools, high-quality genomic and cDNA libraries, premade clones, transformation and transfection reagents and mutagenesis or gene expression detection assays and expression arrays. The use of biomarkers in research and diagnosis can indicate a normal or disease state or drug response of cells / tissues. Biomarkers include genetic markers, cell surface markers such as antigens, antibodies or receptors and secreted molecules such as cytokines. An assay system is required for identification of biomarkers. :Cancer CellsCancer cells are abnormal cells that divide uncontrollably, leading to the formation of tumors and the spread of cancer. Studying cancer cells is crucial for developing new treatments and understanding tumor biology.
