SCIENION’s sciFLEXARRAYER Used for the Production of Sepsis Diagnosis Products

Product news

SCIENION AG has announced that Anagnostics Bioanalysis GmbH is using its sciFLEXARRAYER for the production of a new product line for integrated sepsis testing, based on DNA and protein based multiplex assays.

Anagnostics specializes in tests for multiplex diagnostics and has developed the hybcell technology, a microarray based on the use of cylinders instead of slides. The microarray is spotted on the outside of a cylinder, fitting in a hollow cylinder, serving as sample container. These hybcells can be automatically processed using the hyborgs, a fully integrated and automated single device system for multiplexed diagnostics. Minimum hands-on time, simple usage and fast and comprehensive results make this system perfectly suitable for (clinical) routine diagnostics.

Fast and reliable technology is needed in clinics, especially for sepsis diagnosis. The complexity of the disease demands comprehensive answers which only multiplexed technologies can deliver in due time.

“The sciFLEXARRAYER proved to be the best dispensing device to print our hybcells, be it for DNA or protein based tests”, says Christoph Reschreiter, CEO of Anagnostics Bioanalysis GmbH. “We produce ready to use microarrays for our customers and precision and reproducibility have been key criteria when we decided to work with this Scienion dispenser.” For printing the cylindrical microarrays Anagnostics has developed a spotting adapter. Hybcells have been developed for drugs of abuse screening, companion diagnostics and for integrated sepsis testing. Integrated sepsis testing combines the concept of molecular pathogen and resistances detection based on DNA with the monitoring of a panel of inflammation markers to survey the patient’s immune status.

Holger Eickhoff, CEO of SCIENION AG, comments: “We have experienced Anagnostics as a very reliable partner with excellent people and a superb technology. Facing a dynamic development of next generation diagnostic products, Anagnostics with its novel hybcell technology does make an obvious contribution in this development. We are very pleased that hybcells are being produced with our sciFLEXARRAYER and once more we have demonstrated the versatility of our devices. Scienion enables the dispensing of any kind of content to any kind of surface such as these novel cylindrical microarrays.”

ImmunologyImmunological techniques measure and characterize immune responses. Immunology kits and analysis systems often use techniques such as ELISA, radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunodiffusion assays, Immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Immunologists use equipment such as flow Cytometers, plate readers, plate washers and fluorescent microscopes.Clinical ChemistryBiochemistry (or clinical chemistry) involves the analysis of bodily fluids using chemical tests. Techniques used include HPLC, chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, immunochemical, electrophoresis, turbidometric / spectrophotometric assay, MRI and ISE analysis. Tests are often carried out on plasma or serum but urine (urinalysis) and fecal specimens are also processed.Clinical GeneticsMolecular Genetics covers the analysis of hereditary genetic disease and chromosomal abnormalities. Genetics can be analysed using DNA, RNA, and protein microarrays, PCR, RT PCR and DNA sequencing. Genetic equipment includes genetic workstations, thermal cyclers, cooling blocks and electrophoresis products. Diagnostic kits are used for DNA / RNA extraction and purification.Companion DiagnosticsCompanion diagnostics are tests, often in vitro, that are used to determine whether a therapeutic product will be safe and effective for use on an individual. They also identify which patients will benefit most from them. Companion diagnostic tests are often developed in conjunction with the pharmaceutical industry.Drugs of AbuseA drug of abuse is a drug that has been taken for non-medical purposes.
