Product news

Ruskinn Technology Limited has today launched its new, enhanced gas mixer – Gas Mixer Q – for the precise control of hypoxic or anoxic conditions during the study of complex cell interactions. Designed to interact with the INVIVO2 hypoxic workstations, the gas mixing system provides accurate control over O2 from 0.00-20.90% and CO2 from 0.00-30.00% through incremental steps of 0.10% (2 decimal places) for higher precision and accuracy. Gas Mixer Q is ideal for researchers who perform experiments under low oxygen tension and those investigating the specific effects of CO2 on cells.

The Gas Mixer Q is available as a retro-fit kit for all existing INVIVO2 placements, as well as being included as standard on all new INVIVO2 workstations, so that any Ruskinn INVIVO2 cabinet can be upgraded to have precise CO2 as well as O2 control.

Built for maximum ease-of-use, the new touch screen user interface enables accurate atmospheric control with easy to interpret visual displays and intelligent environmental stability monitoring. The one touch auto-calibration function means the user can check the O2 sensor calibration without disrupting the delicate environment of the workstation. Hypoxic cycling allows a timed sequence of 4 (3 cycles and the final value which then continues for an indefinite period) different O2 and CO2 concentrations, ideal for more complex investigations.

By connecting an N2/H2 line to the rear of the gas mixer and the addition of a catalyst into the workstation chamber, the chamber can be run in Anoxic mode via the gas mixer for added flexibility. The gas mixer uses the O2 sensor to achieve an initial low level oxygen percentage and the over-run timer allows the extra N2/H2 to be flushed into the chamber to ensure the cabinet is completely free of oxygen.

Event logging (date, time, O2% and CO2%) of gas trends allows for reporting of gas conditions on a time based frequency. Data can easily be downloaded from the Gas Mixer Q to an external PC or data drive for further analysis via the in-built USB communications port.
