Renowned University Medical Center Goes Live with LABVANTAGE 6

LABVANTAGE announced yesterday that a world-renowned university medical center has gone live with its laboratory information management system (LIMS). The center consists of over 10 core laboratories and processes an extremely high volume of samples for RNAi, genomics testing, small animal imaging, transgenics, proteomics, flow cytometry, microscopy, and more.

The center required a reliable and powerful application to manage their processes from submission to billing for multiple hospitals and research units. The LABVANTAGE system fulfilled these needs and implemented a highly tailored solution on an aggressive timeline. The solution that emerged from the LABVANTAGE early access module called StoreFront integrates LABVANTAGE with PeopleSoft for financials, InfoEd for electronic research administration, and Topaz for clinical protocol management. LABVANTAGE StoreFront provides administration functionality for service management, request and submission management, scheduling, data delivery, and invoicing and billing for all cores.

“The LABVANTAGE StoreFront functionality had previously been implemented by our professional services organization at other leading academic organizations,” says Jeff Ferguson, LABVANTAGE Chief Executive Officer. “This early access project provided a great opportunity for LABVANTAGE to incorporate the StoreFront functionality as part of the LABVANTAGE 6 release. It is a great tribute to the collaboration of the client and LABVATAGE teams that this complex system could be brought into production within eight weeks of the LABVANTAGE 6 product release.”

In this initial phase, the LABVANTAGE StoreFront went live on the Apple Safari browser and included complex instrument integration, interfacing to numerous external systems, advanced reporting and analytics. Moving forward, subsequent phases will include the implementation of the LABVANTAGE BioBanking solution to manage the center’s multiple biorepositories.
