Product news

QIAGEN offers three highly sensitive CE-marked real-time PCR systems to detect infection with C. trachomatis, one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. artus® C. trachomatis Plus PCR Kits* are the only dual-target tests worldwide detecting a region of the ompA gene and the cryptic plasmid.

In 2006, a C. trachomatis strain carrying a deletion in the cryptic plasmid was discovered in Sweden. Test systems targeting the affected sequence region fail to detect the infection. In contrast, artus PCR Kits enable reliable detection also of the new C. trachomatis strain, since these tests target a none-deleted region of the cryptic plasmid.

The artus C. trachomatis PCR Kit* is available for ABI PRISM® 7000, 7700, 7900HT SDS; artus C. trachomatis Plus PCR Kits are available for LightCycler® 1.1/1.2/1.5/2.0 Instruments and Rotor-Gene™ 3000.

* The artus C. trachomatis PCR Kit and artus C. trachomatis Plus PCR Kits are not available in USA / Canada.
