Rapid Antibody and Protein Production using the MaxCyte® STX™ Transfection System

8 Sept 2011

Product news

The MaxCyte STX Scalable Transfection System provides an ideal solution for rapidly expressing a large number of antibodies or proteins in the required quantities for use in screening and other preclinical drug development applications. The MaxCyte STX uses flow electroporation to reproducibly transfect an array of cell types, including CHO, HEK, insect cells, and other cell types commonly used for protein production.

The MaxCyte STX is a fully scalable instrument. It can transfect from 5x105 cells in seconds, up to 1x1010 cells in less than 30 minutes using pre-loaded electroporation protocols optimized for maximum protein production. The MaxCyte STX presents a practical solution to the time, labor and cost challenges faced when relying exclusively on stable cell lines for antibody or protein production. This system can produce proteins faster and at a lower cost than stable cell lines allowing users to more effectively focus their limited resources.

AntibodiesAntibodies are used in techniques such as confocal and fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISPOT, immunohistochemistry, western blotting and immunopreciptation. Select specific antigen reactivity, high specific affinity, low non-specific binding, monoclonal or polyclonal, primary or secondary antibodies and associated conjugates such as an enzyme or dye for visualization.Protein PurificationProtein purification is a vital step in drug discovery, therapeutics, biotech and life science research. The purification process typically involves subcellular or membrane protein extraction with cell lysis kits, separation of proteins from cell debris by filtration or spin columns, and the isolation of proteins of interest from other proteins and impurities with affinity purification (including fusion protein tags and antibody binding proteins A, G and L), immunoprecipitation or chromatographic methods, such as ion exchange, size exclusion and immobilized metal affinity chromatography. All purification methods come in multiple formats for your laboratory needs, including agarose or magnetic beads, resins, columns and filter plates.
