Product news

Quantachrome Instruments, a leading manufacturer of materials characterization instruments, will unveil three new products at the forthcoming Pittcon 2008 Exposition in New Orleans early March.

A new Cryostat, developed jointly with the renowned cryogenics experts Oxford Instruments, will be seen publicly for the first time. This compact and precision cooling device will allow researchers to easily perform gas sorption studies at any temperature between 77K and 200K (-320F and -100F) using only liquid nitrogen as the cryogen.

A new chemisorption analyzer for characterizing catalysts, the Chembet Pulsar TPR/TPD, takes center stage. The "Pulsar" features full automation of temperature programmed methods of analysis known as TPR, TPD and TPO, and of active metal area determination by pulse titration. Automatic gas switching and active furnace cooling are standard.

The popular Ultrapycnometer 1000 (automatic gas pycnometer for the determination of density of solids) gets connected! This latest generation, the 1000e, features ethernet connectivity, USB ports and a more powerful onboard microprocessor.

Quantachrome will also be showcasing two new customer support programs. The "XL Knowledge Transfer Program" celebrates Quantachrome's 40th Anniversary by offering American industry customized seminars focussed on porous materials characterization, using the wealth of scientific knowledge and practical skills available from its core of senior scientists. And a new suite of Service and Maintenance plans ("Silver", "Gold" and Platinum") has been created to offer USA customers timely and cost-effective long-term care of their Quantachrome instruments.

Quantachrome will be exhibiting on booth 1955 during the entire Pittcon expo, where qualified staff will be available to answer questions about both these new and existing products and services.

Refrigerators Freezers and CryogenicsRefrigerators, Freezers & Cryogenics can be used for preservation or experimental purposes. Types of freezers include deep freeze, -80C°C, ultra-low temperature, explosion proof, cryogenic and controlled rate freezers. Freezing is also used in freeze-drying equipment for dehydration processes. Feature to consider in freezers include temperature control and recorders, failure alarms and self-closing mechanisms.Gas Generators and AnalyzersGas generators are used for supplying or monitoring a regular flow of a high purity gas such as nitrogen, hydrogen or zero air for applications such as gas chromatography. Gas analyzers can be used in supply chain processes and laboratory experiments with portable analyzers for monitoring CO2 and O2 levels as well as trace gases. Regular flow can be produced with gas control modules and flow meters. Multiple tecchniques are available for determining particle size, shape and count including dynamic light scattering (DLS), laser diffraction, electrozone (Coulter technique), imaging particle analysis and single particle optical sensing. Determine the density of your material with a gas pycnometer or examine its surface area and porosity with gas adsorption analyzers and mercury porosimeters.
