Product news

Promega Corporation announces the release of the GloMax-Multi Detection System. The new GloMax gives scientists even more capability and flexibility with the leading luminescence detection instrument. Now with multi-mode capability, GloMax also reads fluorescence and absorbance detection in 96-well plates. The modular detection design allows a scientist to expand into these new applications as needed. This is particularly applicable for cancer research, cell biology and drug screening.

With a simple touch-screen interface, GloMax operates as an independent work station. There's no need for a computer to operate the instrument. Scientists can run experiments on their schedule and then transfer data to a computer at any time via a USB port.

By offering optimized performance and pre-installed protocols, this GloMax instrument makes an ideal platform for the multiplexing of assays, such as with the new MultiTox-Glo Multiplex Cytotoxicity assay. An injection system is also available for use with the Dual-Luciferase Reporter (DLR™) Assay System. The GloMax-Multi Detection System will be demonstrated at:

Microplate Readers / DetectorsMicroplate readers are used to automate the detection and analysis of labeled or label-free components in microplates during assays or live-cell monitoring. Microplate readers are generally distinguished by their mode of detection. Types include absorbance, luminescence, fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, TRF / FRET and multimode microplate readers. Microplate readers deliver a high throughput of samples by reading multiple wells simultaneously, with the 96-well format the most commonly used. As a result, microplate readers are often used in the drug discovery, bioassays, research and pharmaceutical industries for screening applications. Microplate loading can also be automated, with robotic microplate stackers to increase throughput. Find bioassays for absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drug molecules including cytotoxicity, transporter/permeability, metabolism and activity assays as well as hepatocytes and cell lines for ADME. Assay assembly requires chip assembly, a delivery system and a detection and analysis method. Beneficial features of assay kits or automated systems include high-throughput, high speed and sensitivity and low signal to noise ratio.
