Micronic BV has announced a new service whereby its sample storage tubes can be supplied pre-capped with a wide choice of Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE) or Screw caps.

All Micronic pre-capped tubes are manufactured under US Federal standard 209E Class 7 cleanroom conditions to ensure sterility and cleanliness. Pre-capped tubes also offer busy laboratories a convenient and cost effective way of minimising the time spent on capping sample storage tubes.

Micronic offers a comprehensive range of non-coded, alphanumeric and two 2D bar coded tubes in a range of materials, sizes and bottom profiles to cater for all sample types and sample storage requirements. To compliment this Micronic also offers a wide range of tube capping solutions to ensure the integrity of your stored samples.

Extensive research by Micronic has resulted in a USP Class VI certificated Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE) that provides a tube seal that is easily pierced, highly chemically resistant, repels water, offers excellent resealing properties and does not discolour even after long term exposure to oxygen. Each Micronic TPE cap is made of two components: the cap, and a retaining film. This film is easily removed, leaving a high integrity seal on individual tubes. The novel cap cluster design of the TPE coloured caps virtually eliminates cross contamination problems associated with some traditional capping systems. Micronic TPE caps are available in a choice of eight different colours to provide a simple, yet highly effective means of visually differentiating stored samples by person, department, and project or even by the day of the week they were submitted.

For laboratories looking for high integrity storage of samples down to 196ºC, Micronic offers an optimised screw top tube (0.5ml, 0.65ml, 1.1ml and 1.4ml) to suit almost any application. To optimise use of valuable freezer storage space - 96 individual tubes can be stored in a Micronic Lobo Rack or Robo Rack. Incorporating a novel 'single turn' capping mechanism - accessing and securing samples within Micronic screw top tubes is a simple and rapid process. To prevent tubes from rotating during opening and closing each screw top tube includes a novel anti-twist feature. A unique 2-dimensional code on the bottom of each tube provides an easy and unambiguous means of storing and identifying samples. Available in a choice of 6 different colour screw caps - Micronic screw top tubes also enable quick visual determination of sample origin.

Micronic pre-capped tubes are fully compatible with SBS/ANSI compliant tube racks and Micronic code reader's facilitates easy integration into automated high-throughput screening environments.
