Point of Care Testing (POCT) Ltd, a UK based company, has announced that it is to take over distribution of the Abbott i-STAT® in Primary Care in England. They will now offer the service that was formerly supported by Axis Shield UK.
POCT Ltd will also distribute the i-STAT® in Scotland and Wales in Primary Care.
POCT Ltd are looking forward to working closely with Abbott Point of Care to further expand the use of the i-STAT® within the Primary Care sector as well as supporting existing i-STAT® Primary Care customers.
The Abbott i-STAT®, cartridges and associated products will be detailed on the POCT Ltd website from 1st February 2012.

POCT includes: blood glucose testing, blood gas and electrolytes analysis, rapid coagulation testing (PT / INR), rapid cardiac markers diagnostics, drugs of abuse screening, urine strips testing, pregnancy testing, fecal occult blood analysis, food pathogens screening, hemoglobin diagnostics, infectious disease testing and cholesterol screening.Clinical ChemistryBiochemistry (or clinical chemistry) involves the analysis of bodily fluids using chemical tests. Techniques used include HPLC, chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, immunochemical, electrophoresis, turbidometric / spectrophotometric assay, MRI and ISE analysis.
