PIKE Technologies introduces the Nano Stick accessory manufactured by Scinco Co., Ltd. The Nano Stick is a precision UV-Vis product designed for quick and reproducible measurements of DNA, RNA, and protein concentrations in biological samples. The Nano Stick fits in standard 1 cm cuvette holders of most commercial UV-Vis spectrophotometers. The accessory is available in 0.2 mm and 0.5 mm pathlength configurations and allows measurements of 2 μl sample aliquots. Supported detection limits are: 1.1 ng/μl for DNA/RNA and 0.6 mg/μl for protein samples.

PIKE Technologies, Inc. is located in Madison, Wisconsin. Established in 1989, it became a primary source for spectroscopy accessories and applications worldwide. Products include attenuated total reflectance (ATR), diffuse reflectance, specular reflectance, integrating spheres, polarization, IR microscope, beam condensers, remote sensing, and a complete line of transmission sampling accessories. Many of these products are available with optional heating and automation for increased sampling speed and productivity.

PIKE Technologies, Inc. also offers design and consulting services for development of specialized and custom products for a wide range of spectroscopy applications. PIKE products are compatible with all major brands of spectrometers.

UV-Visible SpectroscopyUltraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometers are used to measure the interaction of UV and visible light with a sample, including transmission, reflectance & absorbance. The two major instrument classes are single-beam or double-beam spectrophotometers. More specialized equipment includes colorimeters, spectroradiometers and refractometers. Portable and microvolume spectrophotometers are also available. For the modular spectroscopy lab, explore a range of light sources for combination with a spectrograph/spectrometer and optics. There are many genomic technologies such as DNA sequencing of whole genomes, computational biology and bioinformatics. DNA and nucleic acids must be isolated and concentrated from cells for analysis with kits, automated analyzers and software. Other useful technologies for studying genomics include PCR, microarrays and electrophoresis.ProteomicsProteomics is the systemic bioinformatics study of proteins and amino acids, including their structure, size, function and identification. Tools used in proteomics include chromatography, blotting and gels, protein arrays, mass spectrometry and ELISA and associated analysis software. Analyzers and proteomic systems should be sensitive, high resolution, fast and may be automated for high-throughput.DNA / RNA Extraction and PurificationPurified DNA and RNA are required for numerous downstream molecular biology applications. Consequently, the importance of high-quality DNA/RNA extraction and purification equipment cannot be underestimated. Many purification kits are available and are typically optimized for nucleic acid type and source, including plasmid DNA, genomic DNA, mRNA, RNA and viral nucleic acid purification kits. Automated extraction and purification of nucleic acids can be implemented with magnetic bead separator instruments or high-throughput purification workstations.
