Shimadzu, one of the world leaders in analytical instrumentation, offers the Perfinity iDP system for automated online protein digestion. The heart of this system solution, which is based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), is a reusable high-performance trypsin column that, depending on the protein, can per-form a digestion within a few minutes.

Automated online tryptic digestion
The Perfinity iDP is a complete system for tryptic digestion of proteins that minimizes potential user-related errors. The sample is applied onto the high-performance trypsin column using an autosampler and is digested in a buffer that is optimized for this application. The peptides resulting from the digestion are transferred online to a desalting column and are subsequently directed to the separation column where they are separated and subsequently analyzed. This completely automated process ensures an excellent recovery with virtually no sample carry-over. Parallel processing using two desalting columns further increases sample throughput.

Simple operation via the Perfinity iDP software
The Perfinity iDP software supports the entire workflow, from method development up to sample analysis. Results are obtained in only three intuitive steps – method setting, batch file creation, evaluation via LabSolutions. By connecting with Shimadzu’s LabSolutions software, the Perfinity iDP can be easily integrated into already existing systems.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns.
