Product news

Porvair Sciences Ltd., specialists in microplates and microplate technology since 1992, offers a comprehensive range of 96-well deep well plates optimised for applications in cell biology, molecular biology, drug discovery, combinatorial chemistry, screening and genomics.

Manufactured under class 10,000 conditions from ultra-pure grade polypropylene, the 96-well deep well plates contain no contaminants that may leach out and affect stored sample or bacterial or cell growth. Where the application requires a selection of Porvair's comprehensive range of 96-well deep well plates are available certified as RNase / DNase free.

Available in wide choice of well shapes and volumes - all Porvair 96-well deep well plates are precisely made to SBS/ANSI dimensions ensuring complete compatibility with almost all readers, washers and automated equipment.

Porvair Sciences offers three 96-well deep well plates that have a maximum well capacity of 350 µl. Available in a choice of flat, round and V bottomed wells these plates are optimised for compound storage, screening and culturing applications. For general assay work and sample storage, round 96-well deep well plates offering a working volume of 1 ml, provide an affordable, easy to use solution. Polystyrene 1 ml round 96-well deep well plates are available for applications that require visible inspection. Where operational flexibility, solvent resistance and automation compatibility are important Porvair's range of precisely engineered polypropylene square 96-well deep well plates (350 µl, 1 ml and 2 ml) - provide leading edge performance.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. Find the best cell and tissue culture products, kits and equipment in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Combinatorial ChemistryCombinatorial chemistry, also known as combichem, is a technique used in drug discovery to create libraries of structurally related compounds. A library is generated by synthesis with a chemical reactor system or by computer-based modeling of compound combinations. When undertaking combinatorial chemistry consider reagents, buffers, resins and standards.Genome AnalysisGenomics, the study of genomes, includes functional genomics, evolutionary genomics and comparative genomics. There are many genomic technologies such as DNA sequencing of whole genomes, computational biology and bioinformatics. DNA and nucleic acids must be isolated and concentrated from cells for analysis with kits, automated analyzers and software. Other useful technologies for studying genomics include PCR, microarrays and electrophoresis.MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications. Find the best microplates for your lab in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.High-Throughput ScreeningHigh-throughput screening (HTS) is an automated drug discovery technique for identification of active compounds against a compound library. Use HTS readers and integrated assay preparation / analysis workstations to screen your compounds. Identify active compounds against various HTS libraries, including membranes, proteins and peptides and HTS cell lines. Find the best high-throughput screening products in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Microplate Readers / DetectorsMicroplate readers are used to automate the detection and analysis of labeled or label-free components in microplates during assays or live-cell monitoring. Microplate readers are generally distinguished by their mode of detection. Types include absorbance, luminescence, fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, TRF / FRET and multimode microplate readers. Microplate readers deliver a high throughput of samples by reading multiple wells simultaneously, with the 96-well format the most commonly used. As a result, microplate readers are often used in the drug discovery, bioassays, research and pharmaceutical industries for screening applications. Microplate loading can also be automated, with robotic microplate stackers to increase throughput. Useful system features include high-throughput, automation, robotic arms, automated liquid handling and associated database systems. Accessories in sample management include barcode scanners, heat sealers and tubes.
