Product news

Faculty and Students at The University of Nottingham in Nottingham, UK, now have the latest in NMR desktop processing and interpretation software available to them through an academic site license from Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc. (ACD/Labs).

Providing access to NMR software is an important service, offered by The University of Nottingham to its staff and students in order to facilitate standardization within the academic environment, and to support teaching and research alike. As the demand for valuable instrument time grows, so does the need for a means of managing experimental data away from the instrument. Recognizing this fact, the University sought out a solution that could be deployed across their network and accessible to a variety of users. “We have chosen ACD/Labs’ software because it is a competitively priced solution to the NMR data handling needs of our synthetic chemists,” says Adrienne Davis, Analytical Services Manager, School of Chemistry at The University of Nottingham. “It will also provide a useful tool for other research groups who use NMR within the University.”

ACD/2D NMR Processor supports all major NMR formats, and assists in the processing and interpretation of both 1D and 2D NMR data. In addition, it provides many useful features to help chemists and spectroscopists get the most out of their NMR data, such as multiplet analysis, structure assignment, and reporting tools.

NMR and EPR SpectroscopyNuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is used to resolve the local chemical environment of atomic nuclei with spin, revealing information on molecular structure, dynamic processes and chemical reactions of organic molecules, from proteins to synthetics. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) also known as electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy is used to detect and quantify paramagnetic species in a sample, including free radicals as transition metal ions. By immersing the sample in a strong magnetic field, both NMR and EPR spectrometers probe the sample with either radio waves or microwaves respectively. A range of benchtop, solid-state and time domain NMR spectrometers & EPR spectrometers are available, as well as NMR tubes, NMR solvents, software, coils, and magnets. Data software can be used for math and stats, technical graphing and image analysis. In addition, software is available for specific data analysis of electrophoresis, densitometry, ELISA and DNA sequencing.
