Nominations for the 2023 Scientists’ Choice Award for Sustainable Laboratory Product of the Year are now open. This award recognizes the laboratory product or service that scientists view as having made the biggest impact on laboratory sustainability.

If there is an instrument, kit, software, or service that has helped to improve the sustainability of your lab work, then now is the time to spread the word by nominating it for a Scientists’ Choice Award.

By getting involved, you will give the product the recognition it deserves, as well as spread the word to your fellow scientists to help them identify the most sustainable equipment on the market that will help them reduce the environmental impact of their research.

Following the popularity of last year's sustainability awards, this year we are also introducing two new categories:

Sustainable Supplier of the Year - Nominate the supplier who has demonstrated significant progress in product innovation toward net zero and/or demonstrated sustainable approaches that have helped improve your laboratory's sustainability.

Sustainable Laboratory of the Year - Has your laboratory implemented sustainable initiatives? Nominate your lab for Sustainable Laboratory of the Year for the chance to win this exciting new award.

SelectScience® will enter everyone who nominates or votes from the final shortlist into a prize drawing for the chance to win a $500 Amazon.com Gift Card (or equivalent currency).

Nominate today

Nominations close on January 1, 2024. Nominations will then be shortlisted, and you’ll be invited to vote for the winner. The award winners will be announced in April 2024.

It only takes a couple of minutes – have your say and nominate in the 2023 Sustainability Scientists’ Choice Awards today!

The Scientists’ Choice Awards

Each year, scientists and clinical professionals around the world take part in the Scientists’ Choice Awards® by nominating and voting for the new products, instruments, and services that have made a big impact in their laboratory.

Types of freezers include deep freeze, -80C°C, ultra-low temperature, explosion proof, cryogenic and controlled rate freezers. Freezing is also used in freeze-drying equipment for dehydration processes. Feature to consider in freezers include temperature control and recorders, failure alarms and self-closing mechanisms.Heating EquipmentA range of heating equipment is available for different laboratory applications including furnaces, ovens and hotplates. Furnace systems include vacuum furnaces and ultra-high temperature furnaces and ovens comprise of convection and vacuum ovens.FiltrationFiltration and microfiltration are used to separate solids, particulates or large molecules from fluids (liquid or gases) in order to purify the filtrate. Explore a range of filter formats, including filter paper, plates and membranes for your separation needs. While larger particulates may be separated by gravity filtration, smaller particulates may require additional force for timely separation. Microfiltration equipment includes vacuum filters, as well as positive pressure, crossflow and centrifugal filtration devices. For instance microplate washers can be programmable, combined with reagents dispensers and used for applications such as ELISA, multiplex assays and PCR clean up.Labware and Lab SuppliesLabware and lab supplies include various forms of glassware, plasticware, reagents and personal protective equipment (PPE) and are used across all scientific laboratories, enabling daily tasks to be performed. Explore a range of flasks and beakers, petri dishes, carboys and storage bottles. Labware such as condensers, desiccators and burettes are also available for more specific tasks. These systems include demineralization, reverse osmosis, filtration and ultrafiltration. A combination of methods is sometimes necessary to achieve purified water suitable for use in experiments.Scientists Choice AwardsEach year, the SelectScience Scientists' Choice Awards celebrate the best products in the industry, as nominated and voted for by our scientist members.
