LECO Corporation has opened the newest addition to its corporate headquarters campus in St. Joseph, Michigan—the Elizabeth S. Warren Technical Centre.

Named in honor of LECO Executive Vice President and Treasurer Elizabeth S. Warren, this 28,000 square-foot facility is dedicated to the research and development of innovative instrumentation and equipment for LECO’s separation science product line. These instruments are used in a variety of applications, including pharmaceuticals, metabolomics, food, flavor, fragrance, environmental, and petrochemical. Having one facility exclusively devoted to this purpose will enable LECO to remain competitive in this field.

The building includes laboratory spaces, office areas, and an auditorium for presentations and educational opportunities. The new facility houses 32 LECO employees, including scientists, engineers, technicians, and clerical, with space available to accommodate additional team members as needed. In addition, the new facility and LECO’s main R&D facility next door share several engineering and technical groups. Engineers from these groups split their time between the two buildings, and have ample workspace set-up in both areas.

The addition of the new building also creates more room in the adjacent Carl E. Schultz Technical Center for Research and Development. By moving Separation Science R&D to its own building, the existing technical center now has more space to focus on the continued development of products for LECO’s inorganic, organic, and metallographic product lines. The added space in both buildings will enable a more efficient engineering process from start to finish, in addition to allowing for proper pre-production testing.

Pegasus® GC-HRT

LECO Corp.

While some systems on the market offer users a choice between acquisition speed or resolution, the Pegasus GC-HRT provides scientists with an unprecedented combination of speed, resolution, mass accuracy, isotopic abundance, and dynamic range. This instrumentation utilizes LECO's own Folded Flight Path™ (FFP™) technology to allow users to achieve resolutions of up to 50,000. LECO's exclusive ChromaTOF-HRT™ software with Automated Peak Find and True Signal Deconvolution® provides seamless data handling and compatibility with the NIST Library.

Gas ChromatographyGas chromatography (GC) is an analytical technique used to separate and quantitate mixtures of small and volatile compounds. Gas chromatographs or GC systems include components such as GC columns, detectors, pumps and autosamplers. Choose from packed or capillary GC columns, flame ionization (FID), photoionization (PID) electron capture detectors and selective or non-selective detectors. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. GC-MS GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) instruments and equipment are used to separate, quantify and identify mixtures of small and volatile compounds, such as polycyclic aromatics, fatty acids and alcohols. Often used in drug detection, forensic investigation and environmental analysis for pesticides and contaminants, GC-MS is a powerful addition to your lab’s analytical capabilities. GC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzers can give greater sensitivity and resolution to your analysis.
