Metrohm launches scION, a new sensor based on thick-film technology. The sensor’s ion-selective tip has been specially developed for titrating calcium/magnesium hardness in drinking water.

With regular use, sensor performance is subject to gradual decline. However, it is not so easy to determine, if a sensor is still good enough to yield the required quality of analytical results. scION is the answer to this notorious challenge.

scION is based on a modular design. While the electrode shaft (that is not critical for the electrode’s performance) can be used over and over again, the new, cost-effective sensor tip enables affordable, routine replacement. This ensures always reliable results.
