Product news

By producing NIR Metal-on-Quartz filters, Starna Scientific adds another product to its comprehensive range of Certified Reference Materials, enhancing and extending the capability to qualify the full range Transmittance scale of a UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer.

Manufactured and produced within the Starna ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO Guide 34 accreditation as a Reference Material producer, the new NIR standard completes the range of Certified Reference Materials available for instrument validation or verification.

The NIR Metal-on-Quartz neutral density filter is protected from oxidation, physical degradation or contamination by the use of a novel cover plate which is optically bonded to the surface. This results in a durable, extended lifetime filter.

Starna also offer pharmaceutical and regulated laboratories an additional, traceable, Transmittance qualification procedure in compliance with USP NIR protocols that can now be performed using solid state glass filters in a range of values between 1 and 92 %T (2.0A to 0.04 A).

Near Infrared SpectroscopyNear-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy measures the interaction of near-infrared light with a sample, including transmission, reflectance and absorbance, facilitating the identification of analytes. Measurements can be conducted using a Fourier-transform near infrared (FT-NIR) spectrometer, while there are also UV-Vis- NIR spectrophotometers that measure a broader spectrum of wavelengths. The two major instrument classes are single-beam or double-beam spectrophotometers. More specialized equipment includes colorimeters, spectroradiometers and refractometers. Portable and microvolume spectrophotometers are also available. For the modular spectroscopy lab, explore a range of light sources for combination with a spectrograph/spectrometer and optics.
