Hamamatsu Photonics introduce the C11697MA, a trigger-compatible miniature spectrometer module. This new miniature spectrometer module is ideal for use in inline testing applications due to the high sensitivity afforded by the amp-array CMOS image sensor housed within the spectrometer. Additionally, the CMOS array features a short integration time of 4µs. This compares to 5ms for the conventional type! These factors make the C11697MA well suited for inline inspection of LEDs in particular.

The new C11697MA features a transmission grating permanently attached to a wide dynamic range amp-array CMOS linear image sensor. The C11697MA covers a wide spectral range from 320nm to 1000nm and light is input from the sample under measurement via a fibre-optic cable.

The C11697MA spectrometer module also includes a USB interface, which enables “plug and play” connection to a PC. The C11697MA is supplied with free sample software, which allows the user to set measurement conditions, acquire and save data and display it graphically thus making it very quick and easy to start taking basic measurements.

Fluorescence SpectroscopyFluorometers and spectrofluorometers (also called fluorescence spectrometers) are used to measure the intensity and wavelength of fluorescent light emitted from a sample after excitation by illumination. Spectrofluorometers utilize monochromators to select the desired wavelengths, whereas filter fluorometers employ a set of filters. Spectrofluorometers for measuring steady-state fluorescence and lifetime fluorescence (or time-resolved fluorescence) are available, as well as fluorescence microscopes and microplate readers. Available spectroscopy lamps include xenon, hollow cathode, ultraviolet, tungsten, halogen, mercury and deuterium.UV-Visible SpectroscopyUltraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometers are used to measure the interaction of UV and visible light with a sample, including transmission, reflectance & absorbance. The two major instrument classes are single-beam or double-beam spectrophotometers. More specialized equipment includes colorimeters, spectroradiometers and refractometers. Portable and microvolume spectrophotometers are also available. For the modular spectroscopy lab, explore a range of light sources for combination with a spectrograph/spectrometer and optics.
