Product news

Applied Biosystems and MDS SCIEX has developed a new, automated toxicology testing application designed for efficient identification of drugs of abuse, such as cocaine, heroin and date rape drugs for forensic investigations. This software application enables faster delivery of results, more thorough screening and, ultimately, more accurate analysis to be used as evidence in criminal court cases.

The Cliquid™ Drug Screen and Quant Software for Routine Forensic Toxicology equips toxicology laboratories for the first time with a built-in library of 1,200 compounds and a search reporting function designed to screen for hundreds of drugs in less than 20 minutes. The compounds in the library consist of drugs of abuse, pharmaceuticals, poisons and metabolites to provide a complete automated analysis through a simple, turnkey workflow.

The Cliquid software application is the first dedicated application that utilises liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The high degree of sensitivity, minimum sample preparation and short run times of LC/MS/MS allows analysis of more samples per unit time at a lower cost than other techniques, eliminating the limitations of traditional techniques and more quickly deliver irrefutable results.

LC-MSLC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) systems and equipment are used for separation and quantitative analysis of complex mixtures, combining liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Quantify proteins, contaminants, pesticides or screen for drug metabolites with a high level of sensitivity. LC-MS systems and equipment include reverse phase, normal phase and specialized columns integrated with various MS detectors such as time-of-flight (TOF), quadrupole, orbitrap or ion trap mass analyzers. LC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzer give greater sensitivity and resolving power to your analysis. Data software can be used for math and stats, technical graphing and image analysis. In addition, software is available for specific data analysis of electrophoresis, densitometry, ELISA and DNA sequencing.ADME-ToxicologyADME-toxicology (ADME-Tox) studies are used in pharmacology and pharmacokinetics to assess the activity/toxicity of drugs in vivo or in vitro. Find bioassays for absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drug molecules including cytotoxicity, transporter/permeability, metabolism and activity assays as well as hepatocytes and cell lines for ADME. Used in conjunction with high-throughput screening, the libraries of stored compounds are often generated for specific purposes as a drug target or disease model. Cheminformatics are commonly used when designing a compound library and software can be used to analyze the screening process.
