Dionex introduces Release 6.8 of its Chromeleon® Chromatography Management System software, which automates new Dionex instruments, broadens third-party control, and adds capabilities in suitability, trending, and 3-D amperometry. Chromeleon 6.8 fully controls over 260 instruments from more than 25 manufacturers. Third-party LC support now includes Shimadzu diode-array detectors (full 3D), the Polymer Labs ELSD, and Gilson 331/332 pumps. GC support now includes the Shimadzu 2010 GC, and the Agilent 7673 autosampler combined with the 5890 GC.

Chromeleon 6.8 automates new Dionex UltiMate™ 3000 HPLC Systems, which offer unique capabilities for diverse analytical-scale and semi-preparative applications. SmartStartup automates routine equilibration tasks and starts analyses; SmartShutdown automatically runs shutdown procedures when analyses are finished. Predictive Performance prevents unscheduled downtime and lost samples by giving early maintenance feedback on wear parts. System diagnostics and on-line troubleshooting guides help users quickly identify and resolve any problems that may arise. Qualification Status Management provides qualification reminders and prevents analyses from being run on unqualified systems, aiding GLP compliance.

With Chromeleon 6.8, ICS-2000 Reagent-Free™ ion chromatographs electrolytically generate carbonate/bicarbonate eluents, saving labor and improving results. The Virtual Column™ IC Separation Simulator now supports isocratic and gradient modeling for IonPac® AS11-HC, AS16, and CS17 columns. 3-D amperometry offers new I-t plot comparison tools. Control charts now support analyte-specific target and deviation limits. New System Suitability tests include parameter drift and signal/noise ratio. Aggregate report tables clearly document complex suitability tests, and new rounding options improve control over pass/fail determinations.

Chromeleon’s client/server architecture suppports smooth scale-up from a single workstation to a networked enterprise, with no software change and no retraining. Its integrated database quickly locates samples matching any combination of sequence, sample, or result criteria, and its Excel-compatible spreadsheet provides easy, flexible, and powerful ways to report results for individual or multiple samples. Comprehensive validation, security, electronic signature, and audit trail capabilities facilitate compliance with GLP, CGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11.

Dionex (NASDAQ: DNEX) manufactures HPLC and IC instruments, columns, and sample preparation devices and develops chromatography automation and data management software under ISO 9001 procedures.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns.
