Product news

MO BIO Laboratories has released a new product for extraction of DNA from formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue (FFPE Tissue).

The BiOsticTM FFPE Tissue DNA Isolation Kit uses a fast and safe method to directly melt the wax away from tissue without the use of solvents such as xylene to de-paraffinize the tissue. Higher DNA yield is achieved as a result of this gentle method.

Also the recovered DNA is pure and free from contaminants that can have an adverse effect on detection sensitivity and amplification efficiency. Genomic DNA extracted with the BiOsticTM FFPE Tissue DNA Isolation Kit can be used in real time PCR, SNP genotyping, and other genetic analysis methods.

For those who still prefer to de-wax using solvents, we recommend the BiOstic™ Paraffin Removal Reagent (cat# 12251-50), a non-hazardous, non-toxic alternative to xylene that can be used with the BiOstic™ FFPE Tissue DNA Isolation Kit.

The BiOsticTM FFPE Tissue DNA Isolation Kit, cat# 12250-50 is available in 50 prep or in a 2 prep sample size (cat# 12250-S). The BiOsticTM FFPE Tissue DNA Isolation Kit is sold for research only. For more information, go to the company article page.

DNA / RNA Extraction and PurificationPurified DNA and RNA are required for numerous downstream molecular biology applications. Consequently, the importance of high-quality DNA/RNA extraction and purification equipment cannot be underestimated. Many purification kits are available and are typically optimized for nucleic acid type and source, including plasmid DNA, genomic DNA, mRNA, RNA and viral nucleic acid purification kits. Automated extraction and purification of nucleic acids can be implemented with magnetic bead separator instruments or high-throughput purification workstations. DNA sequencers and genetic analyzers are based on capillary electrophoresis, where labeled DNA fragments are electrophoretically separated by size as they migrate through a polymer.
