Pro-Lab Diagnostics has launched a rapid visual assay for the detection of norovirus in fecal samples. NOROTOP+® is a qualitative lateral flow assay allowing effective detection of norovirus in fecal samples within 15 minutes.

Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, is highly contagious and causes acute gastroenteritis with vomiting and diarrhea. Norovirus is the most common stomach bug in the UK and the number of reported norovirus cases is increasing.

To improve outbreak management and help reduce transmission of the virus, Pro-Lab Diagnostics has developed NOROTOP+®. The simple visual assay uses specific monoclonal antibodies to allow rapid, one-step detection of norovirus genotypes I and II. The assay offers excellent sensitivity and specificity to enable the quick, convenient identification of outbreaks. The individually packaged test strips can be safely stored at room temperature for up to 12 months, providing a practical and economical solution for norovirus testing.

To mark the UK launch of this innovative assay, Pro-Lab Diagnostics is currently offering discounted introductory rates on all NOROTOP+® test kits. Please contact your local technical representative for more details.

ImmunologyImmunological techniques measure and characterize immune responses. Immunology kits and analysis systems often use techniques such as ELISA, radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunodiffusion assays, Immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Immunologists use equipment such as flow Cytometers, plate readers, plate washers and fluorescent microscopes.Clinical MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
