Air-cooled LAUDA ECO Silver and Gold cooling thermostats with natural refrigerants have recently become available in the voltage option of 230 V; 50 Hz. The water-cooled devices will follow by 31st March 2011 and round off the complete range.

Compared with the fluorocarbons usually used, natural refrigerants have a far lower global warming potential. To protect the climate, users can therefore contribute to the reduction of the direct greenhouse effect.

The 24 cooling thermostats are available for only a small additional charge. Outwardly, the thermostats do not differ from the devices with conventional refrigerants. Even the performance data are identical. Propane (R290) is used as the coolant. As this is combustible, the developers at LAUDA have placed particular emphasis on the safety aspects.

The cooling circuit is hermetically closed and permanently sealed. This reduces the risk of leakage to a minimum. As the fan operates continuously when the equipment is switched on, no explosive mixes are able to form. All of the relevant components with possible ignition sources are protected inside the thermostat. There is therefore no need for the electronics to be located outside of the device.
