Product news

Millipore plans to showcase a variety of water purification devices and life science filtration tools for sample preparation at Pittcon.

During the technical program, Millipore will present “Water: A Key Reagent in the Analytical World” (110-2) on Sunday, March 12 in the afternoon. This presentation will cover how core purification technologies can be combined to achieve standards for high purity water. The speaker also will address how water quality can improve the results for specific applications.

Additionally, Millipore scientists will present the following posters:

  • “Point of Use Technologies for the Production of Ultrapure Water Adapted to Specific Laboratory Applications” (1850-30P) on Wednesday, March 15 in the afternoon. This describes the benefits of a central water purification unit connected to multiple point-of-use purifies that produces several types of water qualities simultaneously.
  • “Tracking Organic Contaminants Throughout a Water Purification System” (1850-40P) on Wednesday, March 15 in the afternoon. This illustrates the effect of purification technologies, including reverse osmosis, electrodeionization, activated carbon and dual- wavelength UV lamps on levels of organic molecules.
  • “Comparison of Several Protein Precipitation Methods to Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) for the Preparation of Serum Samples Prior to LC-MS/MS” (1850-17P) on Wednesday, March 15 in the afternoon. This study compares the effectiveness of vari9ous chemical precipitation methods to SPE. For samples that have a low drug concentration, SPE concentrates the samples better.
  • “The Challenge of Measuring Low Levels of Total Organic Carbon in Pure and Ultrapure Water” (2150-10P) on Thursday, March 16 in the morning. This presents the capabilities of an on-line TOC monitor for use in pure and ultrapure water as well as the validation of this technology.

Millipore will showcase new and existing products in booth #1569 at Pittcon® 2006 to be held March 13-16 (Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida).

Products to assist sample preparation include filtration equipment, evaporators, membranes and sieves.FiltrationFiltration and microfiltration are used to separate solids, particulates or large molecules from fluids (liquid or gases) in order to purify the filtrate. Explore a range of filter formats, including filter paper, plates and membranes for your separation needs. While larger particulates may be separated by gravity filtration, smaller particulates may require additional force for timely separation. Microfiltration equipment includes vacuum filters, as well as positive pressure, crossflow and centrifugal filtration devices.
